February 24. Croquet Party. Mrs Harrison was the hostess at a large eroquet party, given at her residence last week. At the end of the afternoon’s play the prize was won by Miss F. Richmond. Among others present were: Mrs Renwick, who was wearing black, with black lace hat; Mrs Robinson (Invercargill), black Shantung, black guipure lace coat, toque of black tulle; Miss Lorimer, striped silk voile, with small yoke of cream net, hat en suite; Mrs Robison, white, black picture hat; Mrs Hal. Cock, white embroidered muslin, mauve hat; Mrs Richmond Fell, blue linen, hat with roses; Mrs C. H. Broad, grey voile, blue hat with black plume; Miss Kirton, green and mauve flowered muslin, mauve hat; Mrs Frank Hamilton, pale pink silk, black hat with tiny pink roses: Miss Gibbs, white embroidered muslin, black hat; Mrs Henderson, sky blue linen, tnsean hat with roses; Miss Trolove, pale blue muslin, floral hat; Miss Hodson, heliotrope striped muslin, hat en suite: Miss D. Booth, white muslin, pink hat with roses; Miss E. Ledger, flowered blue muslin, brown satin straw hat; Miss Maginnity, Miss Legatt, Miss F. Richmond, Miss Ward (Wellington), and others. Tennis Tournament. A tennis tournament was played during the visit of H.M.s. Cambrian between some members of the Brook Lawn Tennis Club and the officers of the Cambrian, after which the players were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr and Mrs C. A. Green. The Nelson players were: Misses E. and J. Ledger, Miss Stevens, Mr and Miss Clark. Mr and Mrs Hal. Cock, Miss n. Hair, Messrs A. P. Burnes, Price, Hair, and Captain Archie Hamilton. Personal. Dr. and Mrs S. Gibbs have returned from their visit to Mt. Cook. Mrs H. W. Robinson, who has been the guest of Mrs Ledger, has returned to her home in Invercargill. Mr and Mrs Dudley Edwards have gone for a short holiday to Wellington. Mrs and Miss Richmond are away in Picton. Mr and Mrs Francis Richmond have gone to their station at Richmond Brook. Dr. and Mrs Adams (Takaka) have gone for a holiday visit to Wellington.
