Tennis has been engaging the attention of most of tlie Gisborne people lately, tennis parties being hekl last week at Mrs. Mann’s, Mis. R. Barker’s and a morning tennis party a.t Mrs. F. B. Barker’s resilience, while the Gisborne and Whataupoko courts were more than taken up last Saturday, the players having to sit and wait their turn at the edge of the courts. The following matches have been played in Connection with the W'hataupoko Dawn Tennis Club: — Men’s Singles.—B. G. Matthews beat F. W. Nolan, G. W. Willock beat G. P. Foley, J. M. Curtis beat P. Barker, C. A. Fenwick beat G. B. Smith, N. 11. Butt beat R. Barker, L. T. Symes beat E. G. Matthews, J. C. Kissling heat G. W. Willock. Ladies’ Singles. — Miss N. Reynolds beat Mrs. R. Barker, Mrs. Carmichael beat Miss C. Watkins (by default). Ladies’ Doubles.—Miss Ensor and Miss N. Reynolds beat Miss Lewis and Miss H. Watkins (by default), Miss Evans and Miss B. Biack beat Miss Murray and Miss L. Cpleinan . (by default), Miss F. Davies and Miss H. Black beat Miss Bull and Miss Symes, Miss Ensor an I Miss N. Reynolds beat Miss Evans and Miss Black, Mrs. Burke and Miss R. Reynolds beat Miss-Davies and .Miss _Blank. Final: Mrs. Burke and Miss. R. Reynolds (owe 15) beat Miss Ensor and Miss- N.
