NELSON.

February 3. Croquet. A croquet tournament of much interest to players has been concluded this week. A team of lady players journeyed from Blenheim to play a return match against Nelson, but the Nelson players proved the winners in most of the matches. Those who played for Blenheim were: Mrs. Clouston, Mrs. Griffiths, Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Orr, and Miss Smith. The Nelson players were: Mrs. Dodson, Mrs. J. Sharp, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Coote, Dr. Andrew, and Mr. E. Izard (Stoke). The break, match was won by Mrs. Dodson, and Mrs. Renwick’s prize for golf croquet was won by Mrs. Izard, Mrs. Clouston (Blenheim) being second, and Mrs Coote third. Afternoon tea on the opening day was provided by the president (Mrs. R. 8. Booth), assisted by the Misses Booth; .and on Saturday by Miss Gibbs. Bridge. An enjoyable bridge party was given by Mrs. Heaps. The prize was won by Mrs. E. J. Allen. Some of the players were Miss G. Heaps, Mrs. R. S. Booth, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Nicholas (Hawera), Mrs. Robison, Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Fowler, Miss Richmond, Miss Hall (England), Miss Houlker, the Misses Ledger. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. it. L. Fowler have returned from their visit to the Southern Lakes. Mrs. (Justice) Cooper (\Vellington) is visiting friends in Nelson. The Bishop of Nelson has left for Wellington. Miss Lorimor has returned from her visit to the Franz Joseph Glacier. The Mieses Ledger (2) have gone to Hamner.

Miss Pease and'-Miss Sparrow (Stratford), who have been holiday-making in Nelson, have returned to their home. Miss G. Heaps has gone baek to Wanganui. Dr. Bett (Tiinaru) is visiting Dr. and Mrs. F. A. Bett. Mrs. Walker (Blenheim) is the guest of Mrs. Izard. ■ Mrs. Tonkin and her children have returned to Napier. Miss Tolmie has left on a visit to Dunedin. Miss Phyllis Fell has returned to Napier. Mrs. Wardell (Masterton) is staying with friends in Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Broad have returned from their visit to the West Coast. Mrs. and Miss Richardson are visit-

ing Blenheim.
