January 13. Afternoon Tea. On Friday afternoon Mrs F. Moore, Sedgebrook, gave a very enjoyable afternoon tea for Mrs and Miss Kennedy, of Wellington. Amongst those present were: Mr and Mrs Moore, Mrs Stevenson, Mrs Lomax, Mrs McNaughton Christie, Miss Roy (New Plymouth), Mrs and Miss Kennedy (Wellington), Dr. Wilson, Mrs Krull, Mrs P. Krull, Rev. J. Jacob, Mrs Jaeob, Miss Thompson (Christchurch), Mr Addison, Miss Westenra (Christchurch), and others. Launch Picnic.

Dr. Wilson gave a very jolly launch picnic this week. Amongst those present were: Dr. and Mrs Christie, Mrs and Miss Kennedy (Wellington), Mr and Miss Williams (Sydney), Mr and Mrs Wardell (Australia), Mr Lee, and others.

Mrs John Anderson gave a delightful picnic to the Kai Iwi beach on Thursday. All the guests drove out in a four-

in-hand. Amongst those present were: Mr and Mrs Cotterill (Westport), Miss Ashcroft, Mrs Spenser, Mrs and Miss Darley, Mrs A. Nixon, Mrs Butts (Wellington), Mrs Ashcroft, Miss Kerr, and others. Tennis.

There was a large number at tennis on Saturday. Afternoon tea was given by the Misses Luxford. Mrs McNaughton Christie wore a white embroidered linen gown, with burnt straw hat and black glace silk bows; Miss Kennedy, white muslin gown, with insertion and lace, white feather boa, black straw hat witii blaek chiffon and aigrette; Mrs Hesse, white muslin gown, with large white hat and wreath of pink and deep crimson roses; Miss Thompson (Christchurch), white muslin, with coat of white lace, heliotrope straw hat with wreath of flowers in the same tones, black satin shoulder scarf lined with pale heliotrope satin; Miss Williams (»Sydney), white silk frock, electric blue hat with silk figured scarf in the same shade; Mrs Wardell (Australia); white linen gown, cream straw hat with blaek and white spotted silk scarf; Mrs P. Krull, pale green Shantung coat and skirt, green straw hat with pale heliotrope violets; Mrs H. Sarjeant, deep blue linen coat and skirt, with black satin revers and pipings, blaek hat with chiffon and wings; Mrs Wall, white linen frock, blaek coalscuttle hat with glace silk; Mrs G. Saunders, navy blue silk gown, with net yoke and wide band of silk and gold thread embroidery, straw hat with wreath of large roses in all tones of pink; Mrs Imlay Saunders wore a white linen gown with insertion, black - straw hat with forget-me-nots; Mrs Peek, pretty pale grey Shantung eoat and skirt,. cream blouse, straw hat with wreath of shaded roses; Miss Kerr wore a white gown, large cream straw hat with white silk.

Personal. Mr and Mis IT. F. Christie, of St. John’s Hill, Wanganui, have returned from their visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs R. Jackson, of VVanganui, have returned from their holiday in Auckland. • Mrs and Miss Kennedy, of Wellington, who have been staying in W.angapui, have returned to the Empire City. i Miss D. Christie, of Wanganui, is staying in the Wairarapa with Miss Beet ham. Miss Thompson, of. Christchurch, is staying in Wanganui with friends. Miss G. CJhristifl, ofsijW’anganui,, j t s staying with friends in Dunedin. The Misses Anderson,of Wanganui, are staying in Hunterville with relations. Mrs and Mrs Cotterill, of Greymouth, are staying in Wanganui with Mrs John Anderson.
