CHRISTMAS EVE ON BLACKFRIARS BRIDGE—LONDON UNDER FOG.

London has frequently to face a fog during the Christmas season, as the above picture shows. It is just five years ago that two days before Christmas the metropolis was < n\eh.ned in a heavy f<v which hung like a cloud over the river and the docks for over 48 hours. The result was thousands of people had to forego their Christmas turkevs whilst supplies‘of hams, eggs, poultry, butter, vegetables, and other produce were seriously curtailed.
