December 17. Tennis Party. On Thursday afternoon Mrs Richardson gave a tennis party for Miss Beale, who is staying with her at present. Several of the guests stayed on for the evening, when a pleasant time was spent with music, songs, recitations, etc. Airs Richardson received her guests in a black gown; Miss Richardson was wearing a dainty white muslin, with white hat trimmed with black silk; Mrss Beale, white embroidered muslin; Mrs A. On Thursday evening the Cambridge District High School gave their annual concert in the Town Hall, when there was a very large audience present. It was a most excellent concert, and reflected great credit on the teachers, who had brought their pupils to such a stage of perfection. During the interval Mr Lundon, the chairman of the School Committee, presented the prizes, the ’ dux - ’ of the school being Stanley Watt. Two prizes presented by Mr E. N. Souter for the most popular boy and girl in the school went to Bernard Ashwin and Daisy O'Neill, the contest being decided by the votes of the scholars. Mr W. R. C. Walker, the head master, during the interval thanked the parents and friends for the hearty reception they had given to the various items, and for attending in such numbers. He then presented Miss Gavey, who is in charge of the High School, with a handsome manicure set, given by the pupils of the High School as a mark of appreciation of her services. At Home. The members of the Cambridge Croquet Club held an “At Home'’ on Tuesday afternoon in honour of some ladies from Paeroa. Progressive eroquet was played. Miss Veale was the winner, Mrs A. Bell being second. Personal, Mr and Mrs A. B. Herrold are at present staying with Mrs Nicoll. Miss Veda Caldwell has returned to Cambridge from “Caven,” Palmerston North.
