Bartlett, photo. MR J. D. GREIG. Mr James Dickson Greig, manager of the Bank of Australasia, Auckland, commenced his business career in the National Bank of Scotland. Perthshire. From there he was promoted to the London Office of the same bank. In 1876 he came out to Melbourne, where he joined the staff of the Bank of Australasia. He filled several important positions in the Melbourne branch, and was afterwards manager at various branches in Victoria. Queensland, and New South Wales. In 1896 he was transferred to Wanganui, where he remained until 1905, when he received his present appointment. The Bank of Australasia was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1835. and has branches in all the States of the Common wealth and in New Zealand.
Watkinson, photo. MR E. A. CAMPBELL. Mr Ewen Alexander Campbell, Chairman and Managing Director of the Wanganui Freezing Company, was born on May 27, 1843, in Wanganui. His father was Captain M. Campbell, of the 72nd Regiment. Mr E. A. Campbell married Miss Alice Stedman, daughter of the late Dr. Stedman, of Christchurch, and has a family of three sons. The Wanganui Freezing Company was inaugurated in 1891. At that time the plant was capable of dealing with 590 sheep per day, but has since been extended until it now has a capacity of 3000 per day. Attached to the freezing works is an up-to-date fellmongery, manure factory, and tanning plant.
