AN OLD HAWKE’S BAY LANDMARK DESTROYED BY FIRE.

The Ilukarere Maori Girls’ School destroyed by fire on the morning of October 21, was a very old landmark of Hawke’s Bay, having been established by the late Bishop Williams, the first Bishop of Waiapu in 1875. The building was of two storeys, in wood and iron, and had residential accommodation for about sixty pupils.
