SEDDON.

_ October 12. The Races. The Marlborough Racing Club’s spring meeting was held last Wednesday and Thursday. The weather on the first day was very boisterous, but the second was just an ideal day. The attendance was good, and the bright eostumes of the fair sex on the lawn made a pretty picture. The racing throughout was excellent, the finishes were close and very exciting—in fact, was one of the nicest meetings held on the Riverlands course for many years. Penosal The announcement made by the Hon. Minister for Publie Works that the Seddon to Ward railway could not be opened before the end of January is a very great disappointment to the Flaxboum settlers, as they had been led to believe that it would be opened on the Ist November. Mr. and Mrs. Wolferstan. who have "been spending a few days with Mrs. Vavasour, have returned home. Mr.. Mrs., Mr. G. and Miss Belle Griffiths have returned from their visit to Ugbrooke. Mr. R. Dampier Atkinson (Corea i, who has been on a holiday to Rotorua, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. E. Rutherford (Kekerangu) have gone to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson (Upcot) were in Blenheim for race week. Mr. and Mrs. E. Weld (Flaxbourn) are spending some days in Blenheim.
