HAMILTON.

September 17. Horticultural Show. The Spring Show of the Hamilton Society was held on 1 hursday last in the Town Hall. A goodly number of exhibits were shown, although, as a whole. I do not think there was quite so nmeh competition in the various classes as last year. The cut flower exhibit of Mrs Biggs was worthy of great praise. The twelve varieii' S included hyacinths, Primulas. 1 cinerarias, anemones, ranunculus. ami double violets and sweet peas, as well as the commoner flowers. An exhibition from Raglan by Mrs E. O. Wallis had some very well-grown stocks. 'The bulbs, of course, formed the main feature of the show, the chief prizetaKers being Mrs Harry \ alder and Mrs 11. Biggs, while, the champion daffodil proved to be Miss ford’s exhibit, a huge ‘■Emperor” flower. Mr IT. Brett’s lovely stand of flowers (for exhibition only) was a groat attraction, including so many varieties, among which were cyclamen, hyacinths, and beautiful sweet peas, and the striking flower of the bird of para-

disc plant. Mr Buckland sent a aplendl* collection of daffodils and narcissi, for exhibition only. In the class for flower* ing shrubs, Mrs Pemberton, Eureka, came, first, the chief feature of her exhibit being a beautiful yellow heath. The table decorations were not up to the usual standard, at any rate numerically, though the two first prize tables in either class were pretty and tasteful. They were the work of Miss Carey and Miss Stewart, respectively. Mrs Brewis was the fortunate exhibitor of the champion pot plant, a lovely palm. ZILLAH. I
