May 27. A Dance. Mrs. Kirton. gave a very enjoyable dance at her residence, Kimbolton-road. The floor was excellent, and the room tastefully decorated with evergreens and red flowers. Mrs. Kirton received her guests in a gown of black silk trimmed with black lace; Mias Wlashbourne, black dress, red opera coat; Miss Kirton, cream silk frock with border of blue round the hem; Miss Ivy Kirton, white muslin with blue ribbon on yoke and sleeves; Mrs. Sydney Johnston, pretty frock of pale blue Shantung; Mrs. C. Dermer, pale pink taffeta frock trimmed with passementerie; Mrs. Knyvett, white silk frock with silver trimmingMiss Prior, Empire frock of floral silk, pink roses in hair; Miss J. Bruce, spangled net over pale blue satin, with pearls in hair; Miss E. Bruce, cream satin dress; Miss Walker, black velvet frock with cream lace fichu, pearls in hair; Mies Nicholson, champagne-coloured frock trimmed with black sequin net; Miss Beryl Innes Jones, Empire frock of white taffeta, silver in hair; Miss O’Halloran, a pretty frock of pale blue Shantung trimmed with silver; Miss Levien, vieux rose taffeta trimmed with lace; also Misses Miller. Prior (2), Haybittlo (5), Baddeley, and Dr. Bruce; Messrs. Barton (2), O’Brien (Palmerston), Dermer (2), Long, Baddeley, Caiman, Brisco, Millar, Holt, Richmond, Carr (2), Lyons (Palmerston), Downes (Palmerston). Personal. Miss F. Broad (Greyinouth) is the guest of Mrs. Monckton. Mrs. Rawson (Westport) is staying with her sister Mrs. Innes Jones. Mrs. Roberts has returned from Tasmania, where she has been for the last five months. Miss Bruce (Christchurch) is the
