Powelka, in a note left in a billy and addressed to the Mayor of Palmerston, denied that he was the culprit. (2) Pow elka’s horse, which he discarded during the chase (3) The store of Mr Vinall, on the Pahiatua track to Palmerston North, where Powelka called for refreshments, and left his lame horse.
