April 8. Bridge. On Monday evening Aliss Campbell gave a delightful bridge party in farewell to Miss Anderson, who is leaving for England to be married there. The prize was won by Miss Symes. Mrs. Campbell wore a gown of black satin and cream lace; Miss Campbell, pale pink ninon, the corsage draped with cream lace; Miss N. ('ampbell, violet eolienne, relieved with silver; Miss IT. Campbell, saxe blue silk; Miss Anderson, charming frock of pale blue figured chiffon ovei pale blue satin and silver sequins; Miss Humphreys, pale pink ninon, the bodice composed of cream lace; Miss A. Humphreys, bright blue crystalline frock, belt of black; Miss Cracroft-Wilson, green crepe de chhxe with cream lace fichu; Miss Thomas, white muslin ami lace; Miss Harley, peacock blue net and sequin trimming; Miss Symes, vieux rose satin Empire frock; Miss G. Merton, black net, relieved with touches of emerald green; Miss Russell, black satin gown, relieved with blue ribbon; Miss Nancarrow, white spotted muslin frock. Afternoon Tea.

Miss Wilding gave a farewell afternoon tea for Misses M. and R. Anderson, who are leaving for England on Wednesday. The guests were amused by a tlowcx- guessing competition, which was

won by Miss D. Marshall (Wanganui) ; Miss B. Russell was second. Mrs. Wilding wore a green coat and skirt, hat with ostrich feathers; Miss Wilding, vieux rose mousseline de soie, hat with roses. Harley, Babington and Finch. Wedding and Reception.

The marriage of Miss Trixie Nicholls to Mr. Derrick Westenra was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Merivale, on Wednesday’ afternoon, April 6th. The church had been beautifully’ decorated by’ girl friends of the bride. The Ven. Archdeacon Gosset officiated. The bride wore a handsome gown of pure white satin, the corsage draped with beautiful lace, and a • veil of white tulle, fastened with sprays of orange blossom. The bridesmaids— Misses Fulton, Jaxxxeson and Lena Westenra—wore charming frocks of white mousseline de soie, inserted with Maltese lace, white tulle veils, and carried sheaves of pink belladonna lilies, tied with pink ribbons. A small page boy and little maid (bliss Macfarlane, Kaiwarra) attended the bride, and scattered rose leaves in her path as she left the church. Mrs. Nicholls (mother of the bride) held the reception at her residence in Mansfield Avenue, St. Alban’s. Afternoon Tea.

An afternoon tea was given on Friday in honour of Miss Trixie Nicholls, by her cousins, the Misses Fulton. Miss Fulton wore a prettily’ embroidered gown of grey cashmere de soie; Mise J. Fulton, white muslin and lace; bliss Nicholls, white muslin frock, white hat with flowers; Miss Humphreys, dark blue cloth coat and skirt, floral hat; Miss A. Humphreys, coat and skirt of black corduroy’ velvet, with beaver hat; Miss Anderson, navy blue tailor-made costume; Miss Nancarrow, violet cloth costume, violet hat; bliss bb ilding. a brown costume ami hat to match; bliss L. bVestenra, pale blue coat and skirt, floral hat; Miss Macfarlane (Hastings), white muslin; Miss Jameson, coat and skirt of rose-coloured linen; Mrs. C. Wynn-Williams, blue coat and skirt; Mrs. J. Vernon, cream cloth costume, eream hat; bliss Holmes, pale blue coat and skirt, blue and black hat; Miss Gossett, a grey costume and hat; Miss Todhunter, rose-coloured costume, black hat and feathers. A Small Dance. A small dance was given on Wednesday, April 6, by Mrs. George bVay at her house on the Cashmere Hills. Mrs. Way wore black silk relieved with cream lace; Afiss bVay, pale pink ninon with embroidered bands; bliss Leila Way, primrose-coloured silk. The guests included: bliss G. Anderson, bliss Latter, Aliss E. Murray, the Misses Murray (2), Aliss N. Gutlxrie, bliss Spooner, Miss Middleton, bliss Toewell, Miss C. Davis, Messrs. De Denne-Baker, Way (2), Guthrie, Toswell, Barker, Cunningham, and Casey. Personal. Recent departures of Christchurch residens include: Mr. John Anderson, Miss Anderson, ami Miss Ruth Anderson (Opawa), for England; Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Lee and Miss Joan Lee, fox’ Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. C. Ollivier for the North Island. Miss Clifford (Blenheim) is the guest of Lady Clifford at Fendalton. Dr. and Mrs. Bett (Nelson) are spending a few days in Christchurch. Mrs. Wallace (North Island), formerly of Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. H. 11. Loughnan, of Avonside. Mrs. E. Harper (Fairlie) is the guest

of Mrs. Gosset at Merivale Vicarage. Air. and Airs. bV. H. Alontgomery (Little River) are staying in Christchurch.

Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Warren (Christchurch) left for England yesterday (April 7th). Mr. and Miss Cuthbert left Christchurch yesterday for a trip to Australia.
