BLENHEIM.
March 16. Croquet. On Thursday evening Mrs. C. J. W. Griffiths entertained the Nelson croquet team, who are visiting Blenheim, at a bridge tournament, which was held at ‘■The Barton.” Mrs. Griffiths received her guests in a pretty pale grey silk dress, relieved with black, and Miss Belle Griffiths wore a pretty black and white striped silk dress, relieved with black velvet. Our Blenheim ladies came to the fore, winning the bridge tournament, and each of them were presented with a silver spoon by Mrs. Griffiths. Some of those present were: Mesdames Allen (Nelson), Sharpe (Nelson), Bunny (Nelson), Harrison (Nelson), Watts (Lansdowne), Broughton, B. Clouston, Bennett, Walker, R. McCallum, Innes, Wolferston, Marsh, Wastney (Nelson), Dodson (Nelson), Miss Smith, Messrs. Izard (Nelson), Griffiths (2), Drs. Walker and Bennett-. Afternoon Tea. On Friday afternoon Mrs. Jenkins entertained a few young people at her residence in Hawkeshaw-street. Afternoon tea was dispensed on the verandah, and a happy time spent conversing in the usual manner. Mrs. Jenkins received her guests in a black and white muslin dress; Miss Jenkins (Nelson), black voile; Miss 11. Jenkins, white embroidered muslin; Miss Elsie Jenkins, creme delaine, relieved with red. Others present were: Misses S. Rogers, Ross, AlcDeeima Horton, C. Clouston, L. Clouston, Lauren, Newton, E. Mowat, J. Horton, Marsh (2), Grace (2), H. Farmer. Tennis. Last Saturday afternoon the Marlborough Lawn Tennis grounds were not well attended on account of it drawing towards the end of the season. The ladymembers present provided the tea, which was much enjoyed. Some of those present were: Mrs. R. McCallum, Mrs. R. Adams, Mrs. B. Clouston, Mrs. Strachan, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Walker, Airs. L. Griffiths, Mrs. G. Waddy, Mrs. Carey, Mrs. J. Reid, Airs. Wastney (Nelson), Misses Horton (2), Alarsh (2), Bell (2), B. Griffiths, G. Rutherford, Neville (3), Rogers (2). Ewart, Alessrs. B. Aloore, Borek, Wiffen, Smale, Drs. Bennett and Anderson. Personal. Airs. Townshend (Auckland) is the guest of Hon. and Airs. Townshend. Mr. and Airs. Trent, who left Blenheim some three years ago. are now visiting Blenheim, and are welcomed by many old friends. Air. and Airs. J. G. Wilson have returned from a short visit to Wellington. Air. R. J. Bell is visiting Napier. Airs. G. Wastney (Wakapuaka, Nelson) is visiting Air. and Airs. W. Bell at ‘•Flaxmere.” Miss J. Anderson has gone to visit friends in Nelson. Aliss Irene Horton has been spending a few days at Seddon with Air. and Airs. Radcliffe. Mrs. B. U. Barlow is visiting friends in Nelson. Air. and Airs. H. Weld (England) are visiting Air. and Airs. A. E. Weld (Flaxbourne ).
