Halos of Velvet Still in Vogue.
ZqYOME of the crowns of the new hats will present the appearance of an inverted bowl which is larger
at the base than at the top, and these are admirably adapted to the introduction of the long, curling ostrich plumes, a really good specimen of which is a possession nowadays to be ranked with the choicest of our modistic treasures. Fortunately, too, with the wide brims, the current of popular favour will
still set in the direction of “ halos
■velvet, which give a softness to the features and an added depth to the eyes, and which are especially becoming to the Woman who has put her youth behind her, and the lines of whose face are beginning to sharpen insidiously.
In some eases this method of introducing the velvet will be varied, and a broad bind will be applied to the edge of the brim instead, while in the case of the Amazon type of hat, which is always a
great favourite, the brim will be no less than seven inches in width, with one side curled right over on to the top of the crown, and reaching nearly half-way across it.
