LADIES’ GOLF.

„This paper has been appointed the Official organ of the Ladies' Golf Union, Weu> Zealand branch. Secretaries of ladies’ golf clubs are invited to forward official notices, handicaps and alterations, results of competi tions, and other matters of interest, to reach the publishing office not later than the Saturday prior to date of publication. L.G.TT. OFFICIAL. Pars for Links of Associated Clubs for 1910. (Miss Pearson has set or revised New Zealand pars for the ensuing season as follows: —

Auckland will play on the new course tat Otahuhu, for which measurements have not so far been available. The Manawatu links are being altered, and the par will be set as soon as the new arrangements are completed.

Auckland. This meeting was held in Mr. A. Buckland's office, and was well attended, most of the keen golfers being present. The captain (Miss Jean Richmond) was in the chair. The secretary (Miss Alison Henderson) read her report of the past year, which was very satisfactory. A discussion took place in regard, to the visiting players’ fees er “green money," which, hitherto, lias been one shilling per day. It was proposed by Miss Buller and seconded by Miss Cotter that thin be reduced to sixpence, but on a show of hands the motion was defeated by a narrow majority, and so tire old arrange-, ment stands. Of course, there is,a rule that any visiting golfer who is a member of any club which is affiliated with the L.G.L I. can, on payment of a guinea, become a member with full playing rights This, I think, is a good rule, and promotes the best interests of golf. Another important innovation which was proposed by Miss G. Gorrie, and seconded by Mrs. SV. R. Bloomfield, that no player shall be ■•given” a handicap; all players must ' earn” one. All players without handicaps must start from scratch. This is a Splendid rule, and should do away with the bother of getting players to hand in "cards,” as every player will be keen to get her handicap. The election of officers for the coming year then took place, and resulted as follows:—President, Mrs. Street I unopposed); vice-presidents, Mrs. £• D. O’Rorke and Mrs. P. T. Williams; captain. Mrs. VV. R. Bloomfield (unopposed) ; committee, Mrs. Hope-Lewis, Miss Jean Richmond, Miss Buller, Miss Lthna Pierce, Miss G. Gorrie, and Miss Cotter; treasurer, Miss E. Gorrie (unopposed); secretary, Miss Alison Henderson (unopposed); and Miss G. Gorr'.e t'as elected "handicap manager” (unopposed). There is a lot of hard work attached to this office, and, as Miss Gorrie filled the position so well during the past year, we were glad she undertook it for a further term. After a vote of thunks to the retiring officers and the chair, the meeting closed. This is, I think, a critical period in the life of the A.L.G.C., so many important changes taking place, but, with such a strong executive and the co-operation of all the members, the club will, I am sure, continue to prosper. Nelson. The annual meeting of the Nelson Golf *ub was held last week. On the ladies* f’de, Mrs. Lewis was re-elected secret-ary, and Mesdames Sharp, Burnes and R. Fell, C , . Mirises L. and E. Ledger were !' a 9 committee. In future visitors tto this club are allowed 3 days’ free an< * are then charged 2/6 a week. rs. Hharp has offered prises for a fourto be played on April Ist. The officers of H.M.a. Encounter have given the dla * a ian^some shield, which will be played for during the coming season.

Christchurch. The season opened on Wednesday afternoon at the Shirley Links, when a medal match was played for prizes presented by Mrs. T. Cowlishaw. The first grade competition was won by Mrs. Symonds, and the second grade by Miss Moore.

Others present were: Mesdames Arthur Rhodes, Boyle, Vernon, G. G. Stead, Palmer, Thomas, Cowlishaw, Beals, C. Reid, Westenra, Finch, H. Campbell, Donald, Thompson, and Misses Cowlishaw, Campbell, Reeves, Aynsley, Lee, Symes, Humphreys, Lyon, Harley, Moore (2), Secretan, and Bloxam.
