Playtime in the Skies.
(Written for the tiny cousins by Cousin Kate.) ? Y USH-A-BY, Monies, do not peep, But softly close your eyes; IL f When all the children are fast / asleep, It is playtime in the skies. The red. round sun to rest is gone, The bright moon sallies forth; She calls the stars up one by one— East, West, and South, and North. She calls and counts and sets them out. The baby stars between, And the downy eloudlings all about, To cuddle the small stars in.
TTer shining hoop of pearl she bowls Among her sky-children, Far, far across the heaven it rolls Till day begins again.
While in and out of the snowy clouds The stars play I-spe-i, Or gather softly in little crowds To watch the moon go by.
To watch the moon go by, honies, To touch her hoop of pearl, To fling her a smile or a laughing kiss, Or a fleecy, cloudling curl.
Hut hush-a-by, honies, do not peep, Put softly shut your eyes. For when the children are fast asleep, It is playtime in the skies.
