Port of Napier.

Mr. Vigor Brown, M.P., Chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, presented Captain Bower of the steamer Wakanui, with a barograph on Monday to mark the occasion of bringing in the first Home steamer’ to load frozen meat from the breakwater. Napier Harbour Scheme.

A statutory meeting of ratepayers of the Hastings riding of the Napier harbour rating district was held last week to consider a proposal to borrow £300,000 for the purposes of work necessary for the requirements of the breakwat r portion of Napier harbour. A crowded meeting severely criticised the proposal, and carried an amendment.
