WHERE OUR FUTURE GOVERNORS WILL LIVE.
The work of constructing the new vice regal residence at Mount View, Wellington, is being rapidly pushed on, a large number of men being employed. It will be remembered that after the Parliamentary Buildings were destroyed by fire, Lord Plunket gave up Government House in order that it might be used as temporary quarters for the country’s legislators. These quarters will probably ibe required for some years, and it was then decided to provide a modern and up-to-date vice-regal residence in Wellington, with the result that the Mount View site was selected and 'the building shown in the photo, commenced.
