January 13. A Bathing Picnic. Quite a novel form of picnic—a bathing pienic—was given by Mrs. Thodey and ■Mrs. Margoliouth last week, in honour of Miss Seal, who is at present staying with her sister, Mrs. Margoliouth. Afternoon tea was served and thoroughly enjoyed by the young people and ladies. Amongst the latter being Mesdames Ruby, Lusk (Napier), Kennedy, Winter, 'Anderson, Stephenson, Parker, Jax Blake, Kissling, Reeve, Hine, Runciman, Symes, Williams, Misses Symes, Lusk (Napier), Ireland (Auckland), Seal (Napier), Williamson, Robinson (Wellington), etc. Personal. Miss Beatson, one of the senior nurses at the Gisborne Hospital, on resigning from the staff, was last week tendered a supper by the matron and nurses, and presented with a handsome set of nurses’

appliances from the matron (Miss Godfrey) and staff of nurses. Mr. W. Nolan returned from a holiday in Dunedin on Wednesday last. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Mann returned from Auckland on Wednesday evening last. Mies Seal (Napier) is at present staying with her sister, Mrs. C. Margoliouth. Miss Wallis (Gisborne) left on Wednesday Vo visit friends in Hawke’s Bay. Miss Pasley (Hawke’s Bay) is at present visiting Miss Sievwright (Gisborne). Mrs. D’Arcy, of Wanganui, is spending a holiday in Gisborne, visiting her sisters, Mrs. Noland and Mrs. W. Barker. The Misses Cleland (Belfast, Ireland), who are on a driving tour through New Zealand, spent a few days with Mrs. R. Barker, “The Bungalow,’’ leaving on Saturday for Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lysnar, who have been on a driving tour to Morere and Wairoa, returned home this week. Miss Ireland (Auckland), who returned from Rotorua with Mrs. and Miss Symes, leaves on Thursday for an overland trip to Napier, via the Main Trunk railway, back to Auckland. ELSA.
