THE OPENING OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON— HARBOUR EXCURSIONISTS IN AUCKLAND.
A public holiday with tine weather —and the excursion steamers are packed with thousands of picnickers bound for the various bays and islands about the gulf. It is a pastime of which Aucklanders never tire, and many times during the year— for public holidays are numerous —these beautiful picnic grounds are thronged with happy crowds. (1) The forward deck of thb Wakatere, bound for Waiheke. (2) Landing at Cowe’s Bay. (3) Waiting to get ashore. (4) A splendid beach for the children. (5) Early lessons in sea bathing. (6) Part of the beach at Powe’s Bay. (7) Under the willows. (8) An amateur crew. (9) A picnic party.
