Nelson, the <dmd town in the provincial district of th.it name, was selected by tin* New Zealand Company as tin* site of a settlement in 1.841, and the first settlers arrivr’fl and is one ot the most charming towns in the Dominion. ’l'lie place is well laid out with cleanly looking buildings, picturesque suburbs, ami well kept up.
