A COLLEGE ‘MARATHON” WITH 202 STARTERS.
The annual “Marathon” race of the King’s College. Auckland, took place on Thursday afternoon over a distance of about 33 miles. No less than 202 boys faced the starter, and the genuine amateur spirit in which the event was contested is evidenced in the fact that only one prize was given, and that a bronze medal of the intrinsic vaJue of threepence. The winner, Ball IL. who is a very small boy. ran a tine race, reaching the post in 27m 34 3-ss. after the start. his net time being 26m. 34 2-5 s ID The boys leaving the college for the starting point, over three miles away. (2) The winner, Ball IL. finishing. (3) All ready for the start.
