good afternoon’s bridge and very dainty afternoon tea was enjoyed by the ladies present. Dr. B. Moore-Sampson, house surgeon of the Gisborne Hospital, leaves on Saturday for Sydney, where he has received an appointment. Dr. Sampson’s departure is -very much regretted, not only by the' Hospital staff, but by the numerous friends he has made during his stay here. On Tuesday night last, the nurses of the Hospital presented him with a very handsome cigar case of solid silver beautifully embossed, as a small token of esteem. On Friday afternoon at the Poverty Bay Club he was presented, on behalf of the members, with a handsome diessing-bag bearing his name and inscription. General regret was expressed by the members present at Dr. Sampson’s departure from Gisborne.
