SANDON, THE BORDER TOWN OF MANAWATU AND RANGITIKEI.
Mr. Walters, the schoolmaster, is seen standing on the left.
This line of light railway is owned by the ratepayers in the Manawatu County, and connects with the port of Foxton. and extend* to the Rangitikei River, mar Bulls. a distance of about 19 miles. It is expected that this will ultimately become the route of the Main Trunk line connecting Marton Junction with Levin, thereby effect ing a saving of nearly one hour on the through journey.
Mr. G. M illiams. the first teacher of the Sandon School, and Mr. Walters, the present master, are seated together in th centre.
