HOCKEY.

Auckland and United Even. The semi-finals in the championship matches under the auspices of the Auckland Hockey Association were begun on Saturday, the Senior Grade matches resulting in Auckland and United now being even for championship honours, with ’Varsity two points behind. The grounds were wet and slippery fiom the heavy rain, and the latter part of the play took place in a drizzle of rain, which increased towards the end to nearly a downpour. SENIOR GRADE. In the senor Grade Auckland and ’Varsity drew with one goal each; Ponsonby and Y.M.C.A. met a similar fate, each side scoring 3 goals; and United, V, beat Grafton, nil. SECOND GRADE. St. George's beat Ponsonby by 7 goals to 1 goal. Y.M.C.A. beat Auckland by 2 goals to 1 goal. Robinson and Cronin scored for Y.M.C.A. Pimpernel (4> beat College Rifles (0), Murray (2) and Duffus (2) were the scorers. University (3) beat Ellerslie (2). This match was played at Ellerslie, and was a scramble In the first spell, and open and interesting in the second. Jacobsen scored for ’Varsity, and Woods and Mark for Ellerslie. United (4) beat North Shore (1). THIRD GRADE. Unitarian (6) beat Epiphany (1). Moore (2), Rhodes (2), Hobson, and Cullimore scored for the winners, and Vanghan for the losers. Mr. Noonan was referee. United A (3) beat St. George’s (2). Prooert, Kronfeld, and Tewsley scored for the winners, and Timmer scored for the losers. Mr. Stroude was referee. M ar Y’s ® beat Y.M.C.A. (2). Dufanr V?’ ®°ble, and G. Kiilip scored for St. Mary's, and Vinson for Y.M.C.A. Varsity B (4) beat United B (O). The scorers were: F. Beehan (2), Kavanagh, and D. Beehan. Varsity v. North Shore.—This match was played at Devonport, and resulted: ■Varsity 2, Shore 1.

LADIES’ MATCHES. Motina (3) beat Ladies’ College (1). Miss uoudie scored for the winners, College’s •core being a knock-in. Rangltira A (4) beat Rawhltl A (0).
