NAPIER.
July 10. Farewell Dance. A very enjoyable dance was given last Friday evening in the Bluff Hill schoolroom by the friends of Mr Alick Shaw, who is leaving Napier for Hamilton. Mrs Smallbcne, who wore a handsome black silk gown, and Mrs Baxter, in dainty rose-pink silk frock, were the chaperones. Miss Shaw, wore a becoming blue silk Empire gown, with silver sequins; Miss Smallbone, pretty Saxe blue silk frock, finished with silver; Miss Neville, handsome creme satin, with touches of scarlet; Miss Margoliouth, white silk with gold; Miss Dewes, flowered chiffon frock; Miss M. Miller, yellow silk, trimmed with net lace; Miss Wellwood, dainty white crepe de chine; Miss Watson, creme silk voile, finished with bebe ribbon; Miss Hall, pale blue silk frock, with lace insertion; Miss E. Hill, white embroidered muslin, with point lace finish; Miss G. Hill, blaek silk, relieved with white lace; Miss S. Dinwiddie. white taffetas, with gold braid in hair; Miss R. Smallbone, pretty green Snantung silk, trimmed with braid and net; Miss Simpson, pale green silk; Miss Pasley, dainty Saxe blue silk, trimmed with black velvet; Miss Braun, white frock with lace; Miss Clark, dainty net frock with touches of pink; Miss Trent, white lace frock; Miss Denshire (Ashburton), green spotted silk; Miss G. McVay, beesming pale blue silk trimmed with sequin insertion. Amongst the gentlemen present were Messrs. Shaw, Hansard, Grut, Hawk, Bull, Dewes, Nicoll, Humphries (2), Grant, Balfour, Potts, Harker (2), Pasley, Braun, Smith, Currie, Clark, Natusch, and Trent.
Personal. Miss Brabant, of Napier, is visiting Wanganui. Mr and Miss Burns, of Dunedin, have been staying in Napier. Dr. Ziele returned from his holiday last week.
