The barque Jessie Craig recently made a record trip of three days 13 hours from Lyttelton to Auckland, in addition to which Captain Urquhart, 18 months ago, made the run from Melbourne to Auckland in seven days.
It was decided to remove the stone piers beneath the old Parnell Railway Bridge after a lengthy controversy, and the picture shows the last of the remaining pier as it was being demolished.
The sitting of the Native Land Court has imparted an air of unusual life to the streets of the little North Auckland township. At this particular sitting of the Court, the business had accumulated to such an extent that Judge Gilfedder was occupied for close on four months in settling the various claims.
