June 30. Qolf. Last Saturday being a fine afternoon, Brute a number of ladies and gentlemen journeyed down to the Rivcrlanda Golf
Links. Afternoon tea was provided by the lady members. Some of those present were Mrs. McCallum, Mrs. Innes, Mrs. Maclaine, Mrs. Hulme, Misses Ross, Chapman, C. Clouston, MeLauchlan, Douslin, Messrs. Luke, B. Moore, C. McShane, Webb, Oswald, 11. White, E. Reid, Munroe, Lambie, and Clouston. A Farewell.
Last Thursday afternoon Mrs. S. Hall, of “Richmond Brook,” was presented by her friends in the Seddon district with a hot water kettle and spirit stand as a mark of the high esteem in which she was held. The next evening the friends of Mr. S. Hall met at the Town Hall at Seddon, where they held a farewell banquet in his honour, and presented him with a purse of sovereigns. Pollard’s Opera Company.
On Saturday night the Pollard’s young people opened a two-nights’ season in the Town Hall. Some of those I noticed in the audience were: Mesdames R. McCallum, Scott-Smith, B. Clouston, Innes, J. Mowat, Griffiths, Waddy, Watts (Lansdowne), Dampier-Atkinson, Misses ■Horton (2), Niven, W. Grace, Neville (2), Clouston (2), Newbiggen (Hastings), and E. Dampier-Atkinson, Messrs. Mowat, McNab, Watts, Adams (2), Clouston, Waddy, Griffiths, Mac Shane, B. Moore, Hill, and Luke. Personal.
Mrs. R. Adams is visiting “Langley Dale.”
Mr. and Mrs. W. Mcßae, “Birch Hill,” are spending a few days in town. Mt., Mrs., and Miss Rutherford, “Kekerangi,” are visiting Blenheim. Mrs. Rutherford is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Speed, at Picton, and Miss Rutherford is the guest of Mrs. H. Howard in Maxwell-road. Miss E. Mowat has returned from her visit to the North Iseland. Mr. B. A. Moore has returned from Picton. He has been relieving Mr. W. Vickers, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, during his absence in the North Island. Miss Masefield is the guest of Mrs. W. Clouston, “St. Andrews.” Mr. R. Mowat is spending a few days with his parents at “Springlands.”
