( .M.G.. .it Palmer-ton North on June i»th. The military staff ride is regarded as one of the most important feature- in th.- higher training of officer-. The director -tate- a military problem, giving the location and estimated forces of the enemy. Ihe officers raking- parr in the -taff ride are then (..Id the -trength and nature of the various detachments at their di-po-al. after which they ride out to look oyer the country, making the disposition of their foie- on paper. i--uing imaginary orders, and preparing map- ami -ketches of the situation. After investigating the problem from all point-, their paper- are handed in to the director inr criticism, together with their conclu-ions or "appreciation, at* it is termed.
