THE ISLAND STE AMERS, carrying passengers, mails, and cargo to and from all ports of call maintain monthly sailings all the year round, but the best time for tourists is from April to November inclusive. High ranges of temperature, such as are recorded in Australia, are unknown in the Islands, even in th • summer months; but from about the middle of December till the close of March is what is known as the rainy season, a fid at that time the weather may be expected to be close, with a temperature up to UO degrees F. in the shade. During the other months the climatic conditions are usuall v most favourable, ami the thermometer seldom rises above 80 degrees F. in the Fijian, Tougan, Cook, or Society Groups. Samoa is sli htly warmer, but cool evening and night are the rule in all the groups.
