April -22. Tennis. Last Saturday afternoon there was a very poor attendance on the Alarlborough lawn tennis grounds, due, no doubt, to 'so many being away holidayMesdames AlcCallum, Innes, Bagge, Reid, making. Some of those present were: Broughton, Alisses Newton, Easther, Neville (2), Anderson, Alessrs. B. Moore, Stafford, Al. Wiffen, H. Bagge, S. Alacalister (Wellington) and Dr. Walker. Hockey. The touring hockey team from Greymouth arrived in Blenheim on Tuesday evening, and whilst here were well treated by the local Association. On Wednesday afternoon they played against the Kiwi Club in the Domain, and beat them by four goals to three. On Wednesday evening the Alarlborougli Hockey Association entertained the visitors at a social in St. Patrick’s Hall. There was a good attendance. A lovely supper was provided by the lady members of the various clubs of the Association. Some of those present were: Aire. Dampier Atkinson, white satin; Airs. Bennett, black silk; Aire. Redwood, white embroidered muslin; Aliss Ewart, white muslin; Aliss L. Redwood, white muslin; Aliss Dodson, pink silk; Aliss L. Ewart, pink muslin. Social, The Church of Nativity Choir had a most enjoyable social evening last week in the Sunday-school room. Some of those present were: Mrs. Robinson, Airs. Grace, Mrs. Handley Wells, Airs. Eyre, Sister Marian, Misses Rogers, Ross, K. Lucas (Christchurch), IVinslanley, Grace (2), Johnston, Smith, Handley, Horne, Bartlett, Alessrs. Eyre, Handley, Wells, Bull, Girling, Lucas, Powell, Handley, Ven. Archdeacon Grace.

Miss Burrell (Nelson) is the guest of Mrs P. Stuart, of Spring Creek. Miss G. Rutherford, “Kakerangu,” who spent a few days in town during the week, has returned home. Mr L. Grace and Mr H. Harley motored through from Nelson and spent Easter In Blenheim. Mrs Pauli (New Plymouth), Mrs Bennett, Mrs Walker, and Miss Harley (Nelson) have gone to Wellington to see •’The Merry Widow.” Messrs C. Mills, P. G. Williams and G. Neville returned last week from a deer stalking expedition in the Upper Waiau Valley. They enjoyed lots of sport, and procured some fine heads. Mr A. Bell, “Riverlands,” is visiting relatives at Westport. Miss D. Waddy is visiting Mrs L. Griffiths at Springlands. Mr and Mrs R. Dampier Atkinson and their daughter, Miss Ethel, were in town during the 'week, and returned to “Corea” again on Thursday. Mr F. Redwood met with an accidenf during tlie week, the result of which will confine him to his home for some time. Mrs W. T. Churchward has returned from spending the Easter holidays in the North Island. Miss K. Lueas (Christchurch) is the guest of Mrs T. Grace at the Parsonage. Miss Dene Clouston has returned after visiting the Empire City. Miss Maclaine has returned from Feilding. The marriage of Miss Foster, eldest daughter of Mr F. M. Foster, of “Starborough,” to Mr H. Sharpe, of the Public Works Department, took place nt Seddou on Thursday last.
