April 2nd. Golf. The season is in full swing now, and the Shirley links are crowded with players practising for the open championship of Canterbury, which will be decided at Easter. The Hagley Park Ladies.’ Golf Club has so many members that the list has now been closed. Among the hostesses ef the week have been Mesdjimes Cowlishaw, Palmer, Stevenson, Paterson, McDougal, and the Misses Wood, Humphreys and Moore. Personal Items. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Rhodes and family (Christchurch) leave for England today. Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Bealey (Hororata) left for England yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. G. Lee and Miss Joan Lee (Sydney) returned to Australia last week, after spending the summer months in Christchurch. Miss M. Parkes has returned to Christchurch from Nelson, where she has been for some months. Mrs. J. C. Wilkin (Auckland) is in Christchurch on a short visit. Major, Mrs. and Miss Hayhurst (Temuka) are in Christchurch for a few days. Mrs. Litchfield (Wellington) io iti Christchurch. Mrs. Borthwick (Christchurch) has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. and Miss Rutherford (Blenheim) are staying with Mrs. J. Williams (Christchurch).
Mrs. E. M. Turrell (Dalethorpe) kt in Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Alister Clark (Melbourne). who have been for isoine months in Christchurch, have returned to Australia. Miss Boyle (Christchurch) has returned from Palmerston North.
Mrs. M. Studholme (Wai mate) ia staying with Mrs. Boyle (Christchurch). Mrs. E. G, Wright (Windemere) ia staying in Mina M. Hains (Timaru) has been in Christchurch for a few days.
