ENGAGEMENTS.

Announcement is made of the engagement of Mr. Claude Hamilton to Miss Amy Rolling, of this city. Two very old-established country families are to be united by the. engagement between Miss Kiitty Fitzherbert and Mr. Lionel Riddiford, writes our Wellington correspondent. After the death of Mr. Ftiz.herbert, Mrs. Fitzherbert and her daughters left the Lower Hutt to live iu England. Mr. Lionel Riddiford is a son of Mr. E. .1. Riddiford, of the Lower Hutt, and is at present in England. Announcement is made of the engagement of Miss Winnie Henderson, Karori, Wellington, to Mr. Gilmour, of Auckland. The marriage of Miss Jessie West to Mr. Leonard Basil Wall is fixed for April 7lh at Wellington. At the end of April the marriage between Miss Elsie Rawson and E>r. Holmes will be celebrated in Wellington. The interesting engagement of two visitors here for the polo carnival was announced a few days ago (writes our Palmerston North correspondent). Miss Gertrude Reid, youngest daughter of Mr. Nicholas Reid, of Wellington, and sister of Mrs. Alan Strang and Mr. Walter Strang, of Palmerston, is engaged to Mr. T. Williamson, of Gisborne. Both are well known here, having been regular visitors to the town for years. Miss Reid is at present staying with her sister, Mrs. A. Strang, and Mr. Williamson was the guest of Mr. Lionel Abraham during polo week. The engagement is announced of Miss Dorothy Metcalfe, daughter of Mr. IL H. Metcalfe, M.1.C.E.. “Taurarua.” Parnell, Auckland, to Mr. Walter Broadfoot, solicitor.
