March 13. Farewell Afternoon Tea. Although we are in the Lenten season there have been numbers of teas given by the friends of the brides whose weddings have taken place during the last! week. Last Wednesday Airs. AV. Skinner gave a most enjoyable afternoon at her pretty residence on the South-road, and it took the form of a “quotation” afternoon. Airs. Warren received the prize, having guessed twenty out of twentyfour. Airs. Skinner received her guests in a moss-green silk eolienne over glace, kimono bodice over a cream lace blouse, bodice finished with bands of pretty cream lace insertion; Aliss I. Skinner, biscuit-coloured satin striped eolienne, kimono bodice faced with cream silk lace insertion; Aliss Kemp, the guest of the afternoon, white tucked muslin, green hat with green and pink roses; Aliss Warren, cream costume, white hat with blaek and white ruche; Aliss Bedford, white embroidered muslin, heliotrope floral sash, hat of mauve filet net and hydrangeas; Aliss Roy, white tucked muslin, blaek and white hat; Aliss Blundell, white linen costume, cornflowerblue hat with white roses; Aliss AVebster looked well in nattier blue silk, kimono bodice over cream silk blouse, cream hat with cream and red roses and green tulle; Aliss L. Webster, moss-green striped muslin, trimmed with a darker shade of silk, dark green filet net hat with cream roses; Aliss F. Evans, pink floral muslin with bib yoke, outlined with a darker shade of pink, Tuscan hatl with pink roses; "Aliss D. Skinner, white muslin, brown chip straw hat trimmed with tulle and silk ribbon; Aliss AL Robison, white insertioned muslin, brown hat with pink roses; Aliss G. Fookes, white muslin, white feathered hat; Aliss M. Miss Standish, lettuee-green linen, white hat; Miss Wordsworth, pale green striped muslin trimmed with floral pink muslin bands, brown hat with pale pink scarf; Miss Douglas, white linen, white hat with pale pink roses; Miss Saxton, pink muslin, bib yoke, outlined with a darker shade, white hat with brown and pink roses; Miss Baker, cream costume, hat en suite; Miss A. Wilson, white linen, green and pink hat; Miss Deacon, green striped muslin, white muslin yoke, white hat with autumn leaves; Miss Glynes, white muslin, white hat with black and white ruche. Personal Items. Mrs. and Miss Blundell (New Plymouth) have gone for a trip to Rotorua. Miss J. Fitzherbert, who has been for several weeks visiting her friends in Palmerston North and Carterton, has returned to New Plymouth. Miss N. Fraser has gone on a short visit to Hokitika. Mrs. Anderson, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. W. Shaw, New Plymouth, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. Quilliam, who has been the guest of Mrs. Brownlow-Horrocks, Parnell, returned last week, accompanied by Miss M. Horrocks. Mr. Victor Fitzherbert has gone to Dannevirke to live. Miss Emma Hamerton, who has for some years made her home with her aunt, Miss Hirst, in England, is on a three months’ visit to her people in Inglewood. Mrs. Broeklehurst, wife of Rev. J. Brocklehurst, Waitara, with her sister, Miss Rule, have gone for a six months’ trip to Brisbane. Mrs. H. Leatham has gone on a visit to Rotorua, joining her daughter and Mrs. W. Leatham, of Auckland.
