Blue Binding to Grey and White Stripe.
Another introduction of twelve months ago, the strik'd woollen materials, are once more finding a remarkable amount of approbation. The coat-and-skirt costume, comprising a skirt of trotting length neatly kilted, and a coat as neat, is a choice as sensible as it is smart. The neutral colours, such as grey and white, are much used, but a binding of colour makes all the difference between smartness and the reverse, and upon a ‘grey and white coat blue looks extremely happy. At , I am very much fascinated with the new blouses which show pleated frills At one'side of the front, these frills being
frock of dove grey cashmere, with a. silver embroidery. The corsage is made velvet, which in front hangs in a long noticeable that no attempt is macle to down appearance of the figure, as Straight down the centre of the gown makes for diversity in the extremely the backs of the clinging sleeves there of silver galon loops and fringe. The billows about the feet in front ais well clinging indeed. edged with narrow bands of printed muslin. We have had with us a great . many spotted muslin blouses with front frills of this genre, but the dainty bodice I have now in my mind is quite a different thing. The blouse itself is made of fine white muslin and the pleated' frills ini front are also white, but they are edged with muslin printed ill delicate colours. The high collar is also edged with the same printed muslin, and it is a fad of the moment to have a act
of tiny glove handkerchiefs made to match. These blouses look infinitely attractive when worn with coats and skirts of white linen, or with the new linen costumes made in pale pastel tints. Take, for example, a coat and skirt of the favourite mauve linen, or tussore, with the while muslin frills on the blouse edged with muslin printed with delicate
little black flowers. A soft sash ol .supple black satin would probably be worn with this costume and an immense Tuscan hat wreathed in roses. Puri white blouses are always charming,: but there is something especially chie abotil the slight introduction of' colour jusl described, and such blou'ses- are pai'tieu larly suitable for sea side wear, because they are guiltless of lace! With a coat and skirt of very thin white serge a white blouse with a subtle addition of black and white muslin is essentially a 11raeti ve.
