“A Revolution Machine.”
Mr. George Bernard Shaw is very hopeful of the Fabian Society. In a lecture on the society’s basis “that it consists of Socialists and works for the spread of Socialism,” he declared that it was “one of the best revolutionary machines in England." “Everybody who wants to upset society,” was his description of the kind of people who join the Fabisun Society, and he lamented the fact that Mr. H. G. Wells had ceased to be a member, but had joined the subscribers who were not Socialists. Mr. Shaw made a kindly reference to Sir Christopher Furness’ proposals to
his workmen, declaring that all they, were meant to do was “to show the •workmen how utterly helpless they are,” and characterising (hem as “flapdoodle.”
