BOWLING.

Mr. Charles Wood, the veteran president and generous godfather of the Victorian Bowling Association, is retiring from his official post after fourteen years’ service. The resignation is somewhat of a surprise, as until quite recently he has in the course of letters to New Zealand spoken of touring the Dominion at the head of his association. When the possibility- of a Commonwealth team coming across the Tasman Sea was mooted, however, the question arose as to whether New South Wales or Victoria would supply- the skipper. And although the Australian papers say- nothing definite, it is considered quite possible, now that Mr, Wood has relinquished the presiefcney of the V.8.A.. that the popular president of the N.5.W.8.A., Mr McLeod, will pilot the Commonwealth team through Maoriiand.
