Dear Bee, October 2. At an AFTERNOON TEA given on Monday by Miss Molineaux at Fendalton, in honour of Miss Bertha Julius, a putting comptition was won by Mrs. T. Cowlishaw. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Julius, the Misses Julius (2), Mrs. Palmer; Mrs. Monteith, Mrs. Lionel Knight, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. H. Meares, the Misses Burns (2), Merton, Symes, Wood (2), Humphreys, O’Brien-Hodges, Secretan, Rodgers, Barker, Thomas, Meares and R. Anderson. A SMALL "AT HOME” was given by Mrs. Boyes at Fendalton, when some very enjoyable music was given by Madame Scherek, Mrs. G. Westenra, Mrs. Arthur Reeves, Miss Helmore and Dr. Crooke. The guests included Mrs. Crooke, Mrs. Merton, Miss

Seherek. Mrs. Robinson, Miss Turnbull, Mrs. and Miss Simpson. Mrs. Beswick (Park-terrace) gave A SMALL BRIDGE PARTY on Saturday evening. The players were Mrs. C. Reid, the Misses Murray-Aynsley and Miss Thompson. On Friday evening, Dr. and Mrs. Finch (Opawa) gave A MUSICAL PARTY. The performers were Dr. and Mrs. Crooke, Mrs. Wilding, Mrs. Finch, Miss 11. Campbell, Mr. W. Day Mr. Beauchop, and Dr. Irving. Other guests were Dr. and Mrs. McDonald, Mr. and Miss Wilding, Mr. and the Misses Butterworth, Mr. Preston. Mrs. W. Day, Dr. and Mrs. Stephenson, Dr. Jeffreys and Dr. Guthrie. A GIRLS’ AFTERNOON. in honour of Miss Bertha Julius, was given by Miss Barker. Those present were the Misses Julius (2), Denn’ston, Prinv Rogers, Molineaux, Campbel], Sedgewick, Wilding, Burns (2), and Williams. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs. T. Cowlishaw, Miss A. Humphreys, Miss Campbell, and Miss O. Kettle (Christchurch) ' have gone to Dunedin to play in the golf chainpiorfship meeting. Miss Denniston and Miss Humphreys have returned to Christchurch from Palmerston, where they were the gueSts of Airs. Abraham. Mrs. Woodhouse (Dunedin) is ip ( hristchurch staying with her sister, Mrs. Denniston, at Armagh-street. Miss Kettle (Christchurch) returned last week from the North Island. Visitors to Christchurch are: Mrs. Sydney Williamson (Gisborne). Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Elworthy, Mr. and Mrs. If, Elworthy, Mr. and Mrs. Bond.
