LACROSSE.
There will be no more lacrosse in Auckland this season. The association has been compelled to arrive at this decision, owing to the fact that no grounds will be available. The championship was won by West End team, which came through the two rounds with an unbeaten record. The season has been a most successful one, and at present everything points to the pastime gaining considerably more headway next season. The Lacrosse Association has been fortunate in having such a capable secretary as Mr L. D. Stewart. I have rarely come into contact with such an energetic and painstaking officer. I believe I am right in stating that most of the success attained this season has been due to the excellent work of Mr StewartMr W. Nolan, whose illness early in the season prevented him from taking his crosse off the wall, has done valuable service as referee, coach, and treasurer. In each capacity his efforts have always met with the highest approval of the players, and there is no more popular lacrossenr than the ex-Auckland representative. Excellent support has been given by the members of the council, and I am given to understand that out of all the committee meetings held, only on one occasion did a member absent himself. The handsome caps generously donated by Mr D. Sayers to the members of the Auckland representative team have been highly appreciated by the members of ths Association.
