NAPIER.

Dear Bee, August 13. One of the most delightful dknres of the seanon was that given by the mem* berg of the Wapiti Ladies’ Hockey Club in the Theatre Royal. The interior of the building was transformed into a veritable fairyland. Trailing ivy, flanked with magnificent palms, made an effective decoration, ami, interspersed with a liberal display of bunting and Chinese lanterns, formed a striking background for t.ie handsome vari-coloured dresses of the ladies. The supper tables were a study in yellow daffodils, while a harmonious intertwining of the Club’s colours, pale blue and white, lent a characteristic note to the proceedings. The more material part was gratuitously supplied by hockey enthusiasts, and was such as to satisfy the most fastidious epicure. The highest praise is due to the Committee and Secretary < Miss Nita Kelly) for the indefatigable manner in which they looked after the enjoyment of all. Amongst those present I noticed: Mrs. A. L.
