Dear Bee, June 2i A BRIDGE PARTY was given by Miss Nedwill (Oxford Terrace) on Wednesday evening. The hostess was wearing a becoming dress of cream voile over cream glace, trimmed with beautiful lace. Amongst those present were: Mrs. T. Cowlishaw, in a geranium red ninon de soie with cream net and luce; Miss Muriel Anderson, black crepe de chine with berthe of real lace; Mrs. Cory-Thomas, a charming toilette of black and white silk and net; Miss Helmore, cream mcrv., profusely trimmed with lace; Miss Murray-Ayns-ley, white painted chiffon, relieved with pale pink glace; Miss E, MurrayAynsley, pale green satin; Mrs. G. Ronalds, dark reseda green silk with pale pink satin and cream lace; Miss Cook, pink floral muslin; Miss Nelly Reeves, pale blue satin and cream net; Miss Symes, rose pink satin with cream net and lace; Miss Denniston,’cream ninon over silk, relieved with touches of pale blue. At a PROGRESSIVE BRIDGE PARTY given by Mrs. R. Ballantyne at Fendalton, the players were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarkson, Mr. and Mrs. Laurie, Mrs. Warren, Mrs. McOwen, Mr. Cox, Misses Gresson, Livesay (2), H. Campbell, ’Finch, and Messrs. Gould, Warren, Gresson, Bishop, Seymour, and Stringer. The ladies’ prizes was won by Mis. Warren, and the men’s by Mr. Cox. GOLF. Last Friday a Bogey Match was played on the Shirley Links by members of the second grade. Miss A. Humphreys was the winner. On Monday, at Hagley Park Links, the Handicap Monthly Medal Match was played. Mrs. Wilfred Hall was the winner. This afternoon there is to be a Bogey Match, for which Mrs. Sloman is giving a prize. A CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS DANCE was given on Tuesday by Miss Selby in the Sumner schoolroom. The scene was exceedingly pretty as the gay little people marched round. Among the grownups present were Mrs. Wyley, Mrs. Preston, Mesdames Dudley, Newton, Wanklyn, Barns, Hamilton, and Misses Preston, Wheeler, Gossett, MarriottWatson, Guthrie, Wood, Jennings, Messrs. Anderson, Moore, Preston, Denham, Polhill, Fitzgerald, Pender, England, Harris, Blackburn, Wiggins, and Rattray. PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dymock (Wellington) have been spending a few days in Christchurch. Visitors this week to Christchurch include Mrs. Burdon (Woodbury), Mr. and Mrs. H. Lance (Horsley Downs), Mr. and Mrs. C. Wynn-Wiliiajns (Waikare), Dr. Eleanor Baker (Auckland), Mr. and Mrs. Paul Studholme (Waimate), Mr. and Mrs. A. Holmes (Rakaia), Mr. and Mrs. Donald M’Lean (Mt. Hutt), Mrs. and Miss Murchison, Mr. K. Murchison (Lake Coleridge). Miss Roberts (Dunedin) and Mrs. Saunders (Scotland) passed through Christchurch en route for Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Rutherford and Miss Rutherford (Christchurch) have left for a lengthened visit to Australia. Mr. Reece gave a dinner to his employees in the Alexandra Hall on Monday evening, in honour of the marriage of his son, Mr. T. Reece, to Miss D'Oyly, of Port Levy, which took place on the Wednesdav following.
