of last week in Auckland. Everything, from the important and impre*-ive installation ceremonial*, passed off without a hitch, the re-nit of infinite care and forethought exerei-ed by all in authority, an I the cordial co-operation of subordinate worker-. The garden party, the dance ami conversazione. are described at some length in our Ladies' Letter, (hi Saturday there was a Harbour Board excursion. favoured by excellent weather. The Kestrel was chartered for the occasion. and the course was first shaped for Home Bay. Motutapu. The visitors did not land, but returned via Takapuna ami Cheltenham. thus getting a good i lea
of these lovely het Calliope Dock, anti the immen-e work* now in progress, were next visited. ami finally Northeote anil Birkenhead, where rain seeming imminent, a start wa- made for home, all having greatly enjoyed the trip. The Southerners and country eon-in* were loud in their admiration of the beauties of the harbour, which really di 1 look it* best for the occasion. Afternoon tea was handed round by waiter*, and there weir of course some speeches. In brief, the affair suitably closed the round of entertainments offered to vi-iting Masons during their stay in the Northern metropolis.
