CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP.
CH RISTCIIU RCII. Sat u rd ay. The amateur -golf championship of Canterbury was decided this afternoon, the winner being B. C. Rutherford, of Christchurch, whose gross score for the two rounds was 161. 11. B. Lusk (Christchurch) and 11. E. Wright ■fTimaru) tied for runnerup, and the same will be played off later. The handicap medal for the first round was won by W. A. Humphreys (Christchurch l, and the medal for the second round by A. C. Fryer (Christchurch). The first round of the ladies’ golf championship of Canterbury was played on the Shirley links on April 15. the scores being as follows: —Miss Campbell. 96; Miss Mill (5), 96; Miss Wilson, 97; Miss Cowlishaw (IO). 97; Mrs. Wigram (18). 100; Miss Roberts (16), 100: Miss Rutherford (1). 102; Miss Fotheringham (5), 103; Miss A. Mill (18), 103; Mrs. Vernon (11), 108.
