An Overdue Romance.

Fifteen years ago Miss Lula Williams was employed in a tailor’s shop at Alton, Illinois, and one day she placed the following note in the poeket of a pair of trousers: — “Should this fall into the hands of a good-looking young man who desires to correspond with a young lady of feweet disposition, kindly address Miss Lula Williams, Alton, Ill.” The other day the trousers came into the possession of Walter Packard, of Tompkins, Pennsylvania, and he answered the note, which immediately brought the following disconcerting reply:— “Sir, —My wife has just received a letter from you, addressed in her maiden name. Fifteen years ago when she was working in a sweat-shop, she might have written the not. She is now the mother of three children and my lawful wife. If you don’t cut out writing to her there will be trouble.” ❖ ❖ <3>
