Dear Bee, November 15. Summer appears to have .come at last., ' . THE WANGANUI TENNIS CLUB opened their courts on Saturday, the ■weather being perfect. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. Barnicoat (the president’s wife), assisted by Miss Barnicoat. There were a large number of members and their friends present. Mrs. Barnicoat wore an electric blue gingham gown, the skirt was made with wide tucks, and the same on the bodice, green belt, black straw hat with ruche of black and white tulle; Miss Barnicoat, dainty white frock, with pale heliotrope stripe, burnt straw hat with swathed scarf round it; Mrs. Stanford, black voile costume, black straw hat with chiffon and sprays of shaded lilac; Miss Stanford, white embroidered linen blouse and skirt, fancy cream straw hat with wreath of shaded pink roses and foliage; Miss O. Stanford, blue and‘ white striped linen gown, cream straw hat, with scarf; Mrs. Izett, pale grey tweed eoat and ekirt, cream vest, coarse straw hat with cream and blue silk swathed round it; Mrs. Moore, champagne-shaded voile costume with lace, brown straw hat, with shaded roses to match and cream lace; Mrs. A. Zedlitz (Wellington), cornflower blue linen, the eoat was made with a small basque and ornamented with blue linen buttons, cream vest with pink tie, she wore a white feather boa, small black crinoline hat and black ostrich plupies; Mrs. Lomas, handsome gown of mauve cloth, hat to match with plumes; Mrs. H. Bayley, white muslin gown with tussore silk coat, relieved with pale heliotrope, black hat with chiffon and heliotrope-shaded flowers; Miss Ashcroft, ,white muslin frock, the skirt was made with a deep flounce, and embroidery on the bodice, becoming white hat with pale blue and heliotrope ribbons swathed round it; Mrs. G. Currie, white embroidered muslin, white straw hat with scarf; Miss Hawken, black chiffon taffetas gown with Vshaped yoke of cream lace, smart hat with crown of kilted chiffon and wide white ribbons in the front; her sister wore a becoming cream frock, with hat to match; Miss Baker, black skirt, cream blouse, cream hat with scarf; Mrs. Gifford Marshall, navy blue and white striped muslin frock, with kimono sleeves and straps outlined with navy blue silk. V.shaped yoke with small blue silk bows in the front; Miss Moore, pale grey Norfolk tweecj coat ami skirt, with white rovers ami belt, white crinoline straw hat with chiffon and pale pink roses and foliage. On Tuesday Mrs. 11. Hole gave ’ AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON TEA AT BELMONT, in honour of Miss Hook. Amongst those present were Mrs. ami Miss Cowper, Mrs. Izett, Mrs. Christie, Rev. A. Riddiford (Marton),' navy blue Eton coat and skirt, cream vest-, fine cream straw hat, with cream tulle and pink ami blue shaded hydrangea and foliage; Mrs. Lomas, stylish brown heather-mixture tweed coat and skirt, the eoat was tight fitting threequarter length, cream vest, with crimson silk tie, brown straw hat, with ruche of ribbon to match; Mrs. Humphrys, navy blue lustre Eton coat and skirt, with wide cuffs, revers, and collai- of pastel blue, braided in fancy braid, deep cream hat, with green velvet ribbon and pink shaded roses and foliage; Miss D. Humphrys, white muslin frock, with laee and insertion, white chip straw hat, with silk trimmings; Mrs. A. Cameron, light green tweed costume, the coat was threequarter length, and collar of green velvet, black hat, with feathers; Mrs. P. Forlong, black serge Eton coat and skirt, with revers of white cloth, white silk vest, becoming white hat, with black ribbons and feathers; Mrs. Hole, pale grey tweed coat and skirt, cream vest, pale grey hat, with scarf; Mrs. Hawke, grey tweed Eton coat and skirt, pretty black straw hat, with chiffon and tips; Miss Hawken, white muslin gown, smart black hat, with feathers; her sister wore a white serge Eton costume, grey feather boa, and black hat; Mrs. A. E. Kitchen, smart navy blue cloth, three-quarter coat and skirt, vest composed of narrow frills of Valenciennes lace, and pale blue silk belt, her becoming hat was of cream with chiffon and long cream plumes; Mrs. Peel, crimson and green plaid gown, the skirt was kilted, and the bolero made with tiny crimson cloth waistcoat and buttons, black straw toque, with black feather; Miss Alexander wore a smart black costume,, Leghorn, hat, with large black glace bows, and in the front a green ’'and pink rose; Mrs. Hogg, navy-blue coat and skirt, cream. v,est, whity . hat, with gwajtb.ed white scarfc;, Mrs. Glasgow, tailor-made tweed costume, large Tuscan straw hat, with black glace bows and pink roses; Miss M.
