WRECK OF THE S.S. KIA ORA.

LOST AT TIRU a POINT. RUNS ON A REEF IN A FOG. < a p l ain blacklock and two PASSENGERS DROWNED. Consternation was caused in Auckland on Friday, when news came through from Kawhia that the Northern S.S. Company’s Kia Ora had run on the reef oft liiua Point, on Ihursdav morning at 3 a.in., and hud sunk in less than twenty minutes, Captain Blacklock and two passengers, Messrs. Ross and Forbes, being drowned. Details were very meagre, and great anxiety was felt among the relatives of the crew and passengers. Mr. C. Ranson, manager of the Northern S.S. Company, telegraphed to Caplam Norbury of the s.s. Rarawa, instructing him to steam up to the scene of the wreck. 00 miles from New Plymouth. and 20 miles from Kawhia, and biing oil ihe survivors. The Rarawa arrived at Onehunga on Saturday and brought fuller details of the catastrophe.
