HAMER - SPRAGG. \ partimdarly pretty wedding was that of Mi*s Alice Spragg, only daughter of Mr. S. Spragg. who is chief of “llansard*' staff, and Mi- T. Hamer, son of Mr. Hamer, Under Secretary for Mines, 'rhe Terrace Congregational Church was nicely decorated, and crowded with people. the ceremony bring performed by the Rev. J. (Hasson. The bride, who entered the church with her father, looked very pretty and graceful in her gown of ivory embroidered taffetas, finished with lace st nd chiffon. Her tulle veil was also embroidered, and was attached to a spray of orange blossoms, and her bouquet. consisted of white narcissus amt chrysanthemums. The two bridesmaids (.Misses .de <’astro and Henderson) wore charming dresses of white mousseline de soie, with sace fichus and Jong sashes. They had becoming white picture hats; each carried ;r tall staff, adorned with red cactus dahlias ami tinted foliage. The bridegroom presented each with a silver ha ml mirror, and to the bride lie gave, an exquisite pearl brooch pendant. Air. T. ,¥. Seddoif, M.11,R., .was best man. and .Air. R. Dargaville, wa< t| ie scene of a very pretty choral wadding last Thursday. when Miss Miriam Stehr, daughter of Air 11. E. Stehr, Dargaville. was married to Air < otin G. Speight, son of Air XV. J. Speight. manager of the Government Life Insurance. Auckland. The Rev. F. Xoung officiated at the ceremony. Aliss Mehr. who was given away by her hither. made a lovely bride, in cream Oriental satin, Dimmed with beautiful Paris tinted lace and chiffon roses, The handsomely embroidered bridal veil was worn over a tiara of orange blossoms, and a shower bouquet of white roses, chrysanthemums, maiden hair and asparagus fern completed a charming toilette. The bridegroom presented the bride with a gold watch. Aliss Katie Speight and Miss Kathleen llosking were the brides mains. Miss Speight wore a pretty cameo-pink chiffon voile over glace, with Paris applique and Valenciennes lace, and a smart pah* blue hat with clusters of pink roses, tinted leaves, ami tulle. Miss llosking was attired in a daintv white silk with Valenciennes lace, and wide tucks, and white felt bat. with chiffon and long white ostrich feather. Thev
each carried lovely bouquets composed of pink ami blue delphiniums, ami feathers' terns. The bridegroom presented Mis> Speight with a gold necklet and pearl p’-ndant. and Ml*s Hosking with *• gold crescent sei with pearls and rubies. Mr Beckett. acted as best man and Mr R. (nates as groomsman. After the ceremony the bridal party were cntertaimsl at afternoon tea by Mrs Mansil (sister of the bride), when the usual foa-ts were proposed and duly honoured. Luh r Mr and Mrs Speight left for their Jioney tihwui tour, the bride wearing a Fmari tailor made Xewmarket coat and Fkirf with white facings, and a little Wax/ hat. with white wing. The National
Bank presorted Mr C. Speight with a handsome silver tea service, and the choir and vestry of the Holy Trinity Church presented Mws Stehr with a' set of -silver tea .spoons and ail ver-mounted purse. The presents were numerous and lieautiful. ?.irs Stehr (mother of the bride) wore a silver grey silk lustre, with grey silk killings and black lace, and a handsome black bonnet, relieved with pink roses, and carried a purple bouquet; Mrs \V. .f. Speight, rich black silk, cream front, black hat and feathers and Ixmquet of pansies and violets; Mrs < ’. 11. Mansill, fawn voile, trimmed pale blue, stylish brown hat and ospreys, pretty boiupiet; Mrs Gould, stylish tartan gown, becoming hat;,Mrs J. M. Mitehelson, brown dress, J.at same colour; Miss Mitehelson, navy coat and skirt, furs and navy hat; Mrs Leslie Marriner. black silk gown, pretty black hat; Miss Annie Marriner, navy costume; Mrs M. G. Lambert, black silk, blac k hat ; Mrs Orniiston, pale grey voile, ami cream lace, hat to match; Mrs L. T. Haseldean, navy, hat with cherries; .Mrs Cooke, black dress and hat: Miss Freda Day, stylish grey costume; Miss Gladys Lambert, pretty grey dress. Leghorn hat, scarlet berries; Mrs Arthur Niehl, stylish navy dre*«. SPEIGHT— LORD. .Another wedding of interest to Aucklanders and to bur readers is that of Mr William A. Speight, of the Colonial Sugar Company,’Fiji, and son of Mr AV. J. Speight, of Auckland, which • took place at St. Thomas’ Church, Sydney, on the 23rd May. The bride was Miss Mary Lord, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lord, wellknown residents of Sydney. The cove-, mony was performed by Rev. M. A. Castleton. After the honeymoon they left for Labasa, Fiji, their future home.
