PALMERSTON NORTH.

Dear Bee, April 27. The Palmerston Autumn race meeting took place on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. THE WEATHER TREATED THE LADIES VERY SHABBILY by raining in the early morning and looking threatening generally; it enticed them to wear wet-day attire, and then when well away from home, with no chanee of changing, the day developed gloriously fine. Consequently there was a varied assortment of toilettes. Among those I noticed were Mrs Abbott (Wellington), wearing a brown tweed coat and skirt, navy hat with tulle and pale blue plumes; Mrs Stafford (Wellington), black cloth coat and skirt, black crinoline hat with black tips; Mrs Pharazyn pale grey-green cloth costume, coat made with short basque, cream Leghorn hat with green ribbon and eream feather; Mrs A. Fitzherbert (Feilding), winecoloured costume, made with long coat, cream hat; Mrs Holmes (Whirarapa), small black and white check coat and skirt, blue saerf, pale blue hat with pale blue and fawn wings; Mrs T.
