Dear Bee, February 1. Last Saturday was such a glorious day that quite au unusually large number of tennis players, croquet players, and spectators gathered AT THE WHATAUPOKO TENNIS COURTS. Some very interesting croquet matches were played, and also one or two tennis singles. Many of the lady tennis players have been doing good work during the season, the Misses Bradley particularly, who play a splendid game? Mrs. J. Barton and Miss Nolan provided afternoon tea. Others I noticed were Mrs. W. Barker, floral voile dress, silk scarf, hat to match; Mrs. Stephenson, white frilled muslin, white linen hat; Mrs. F. Parker, navy silk voile dress, soft pale green hat; Mrs. Cargill (Napier), pale green eostum", hat en suite; Mrs. WiHock, navy doth coat and skirt, navy and white hat; Mrs. A. Rees, red linen dress, burnt stra w' hat; Mrs. F. Barker, mauve linen costume, pale pink hat with mauve feather; Mrs. Barton, white muslin, black hat; Mrs. Anderson. Mrs. V. Barker, Misses Barker (3), Mrs. Buekeridge, Mrs. Symes, Mrs. Mann, Mi’s. Last Thursday evening A MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT wa- given in th > Holy Trinity schoolroom for the purpose of raising funds for giving the children their annual picnic. The programme, which embraced songs, recitations, and phonograph selections, gave great pleasure to the audience. Tile Rev. Daw’son-Thomas worked hard for the success of the concert. The Gisborne Racing Club hold their Summer Meeting next Thursday and Friday, February 7th and Bth. If this lovely weather continues there should be a big attendance. On Iriday afternoon a number of Mrs. Mann’s friends assembled at her pretty home on the Whataupoko to play croquet. Mrs. Mann received her visitors in a pretty white linen: Mrs. Carmichael was wearing white embroidered lawn, pretty heliotrope hat, with roses to match; Mrs. Harney, pale grey coat and skirt, cream and black hat; Mrs. J. Wih liams, dainty champagne voile frock, pink and blue hat; Mrs. Williamson, blue and white costume, hat to match; Mrs. H. \\ illiams, tweed costume, hat en suite; Mrs. Anderson, white linen, black hat; Mrs. Stock, blaek costume, black hat; Mrs. Pavitt, brown silk voile dress, brown and cream tulle hat; Mrs. W. Barker, jpale green chiffon taffetas froek, pretty heliotrope hat; Mrs. J. Barton, floral muslin froek, motor coat and hat; Mrs. Broderick, tweed costume, hat to match; Mrs. Eliott, black and ■white muslin, black and white hat; Mrs. 11. Al. Porter, grey costume, crimson and white hat; Miss Rhodes (Christchurch), white dress, sailor hat; Mrs. Cyril Wliite, blaek and white check costume, hat en suite. A motor meet is being arranged for next Monday. It was to have been today, but owing to Mr. Gould-mith not being present with his car, the met is postponed till Alonday
